September 2020 Today we are launching our new framework 5 Steps to Mental Health and Wellbeing to support schools and colleges to develop a whole-setting approach to mental health and wellbeing. We know that the mental health and wellbeing of pupils – and of staff – is something that you care deeply about. We also know that a lot of the information about whole school approaches can be complicated and time consuming to get to grips with. We’ve included everything you need on our 5 Steps pages – information, research and resources – so that you don’t have to spend your valuable time doing the legwork. We also have case studies from schools and colleges who are already doing good work so that we can share this good practice. 5 Steps is free, it’s simple and it’s interactive so you can develop your approach at your own pace. FE Chaplaincy videos The life and work of chaplaincy in colleges Did you know that 2.2 million people in England are studying and training at a Further Education or Sixth Form College and that FE and Sixth Form colleges educate a higher proportion of 16-19s than school sixth forms? Did you know that there are 257 FE and Sixth Form Colleges in England, often major organisations in their local communities and employing hundreds of thousands of staff nationally? Further Education chaplains are at the forefront of the churches’ efforts to love and serve this important sector of society. Chaplains come in all shapes and sizes – lay and ordained, paid and voluntary, from a couple of hours a fortnight to full-time. But what does Further Education chaplaincy actually look like, and how do chaplains make a positive contribution to their local colleges?
