The Life and Surprising Global Legacy of Anne Frank

2022 marks the 75th anniversary of the publication of Anne Frank’s diary.

Gillian Walnes Perry MBE co-founded the Anne Frank Trust UK, the British partner organisation of the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. Since 2016, she has been speaking and lecturing in schools and FE colleges about The Life and Surprising Global Legacy of Anne Frank, drawn from her 30-year experience of working with Anne’s story, educating young people about the damage prejudice and discrimination can cause. Her talk covers the spiritual and moral aspects of Anne’s life and experiences during the Holocaust, and can be tailored to different age groups and curriculum requirements.

Gillian brings a unique perspective to this, as she has met many people who knew Anne Frank personally. She describes the redemptive effect that learning about Anne Frank has had on young people in some of the world’s most violent and turbulent places, and relates stories, such as how Anne Frank’s diary helped shape the life of Nelson Mandela. This is the subject of her book ‘The Legacy of Anne Frank’ published in 2018.

Gillian’s talks for schools or FE colleges have been described as inspiring, informative and uplifting, and she would be delighted to work with school and FE chaplaincies. Talks can be delivered in person or via Zoom, and are all richly illustrated with a slide show. She is contactable at gillianwalnesperry@gmail.com or on 07770 747374.
