Centre for Chaplaincy in Education joins Children England.

The trustees and staff at the Centre for Chaplaincy in Education are delighted to share the news that they have recently joined forces with hundreds of influential children’s charities across the UK by becoming a member of Children England.

Children England founded in 1942, it continues to strive towards a collective vision:

“A society where all children and young people are valued, protected and listened to, their rights realised and their families supported.”

Children England delivers a wide range of support services, policy and representation work, networking opportunities and much more. Importantly, Children England is shining a light on the education experience which our children and young people experience, they state:

‘Children’s experience in school is increasingly focussed on academic expectations and exam schedules. However, as the place where children spend so much time and experience so many interactions, school is also hugely influential in the development of identity, relationships and emotional wellbeing. Both within the curriculum and more broadly in the school setting, education policy has an obligation to support children and young people’s health and development holistically.’

The Centre for Chaplaincy in Education wholeheartedly agrees as we strive towards our vision:

“A Chaplaincy in Every School and College.”

We understand the need for the education of the whole child and the role a chaplain plays in creating positive interactions and supporting the development of spirituality alongside identity, relationships, and emotional wellbeing.

Maggie Everett, Lead Development Officer, speaks warmly about the membership:

‘We are delighted to be part of Children England as we know how much more effective advocacy can be when done in partnership. Our young people and their families deserve the best education experience possible and one which values and respects them. We remain committed to working with all those whose vision and passion aligns with our own in achieving this.’

The Centre for Chaplaincy in Education looks forward to working with Children England and its fellow members as we move towards a society where children are at the centre.
