CAFOD - Back to School Resources 2021

August 2021

Back to school: Explore our new resources in 2021.

More than ever before, this needs to be an academic year that gives children and young people in Catholic primary and secondary schools a sense of being part of a global family, a sense of looking outward from themselves and, above all, a sense of hope.

As you plan the coming term in school, here is our guide to how CAFOD can support you in bringing the world into your classroom.

1. Brighten Up goes green
2. The Eyes of the World are watching
3. Online assemblies
4. Prayer, liturgy and collective worship
5. Book free CPD
6. Set up a CAFOD Club in your school
7. Book a school visit
8. Sixth form resources

Supporting Trans and Non-Binary Staff and Students

July 2021

This project was funded by the Church Universities Fund and York St John University; it
sought out and listened to the views of trans andnon-binary students and staff, chaplains
from Anglican Foundation universities, and two prominent trans priests in the Church of
England. Interviews provided a set of rich narratives focussed on the lived experiences
of trans and non-binary folk on university campuses and in church environments.
Chaplains provided details regarding their current knowledge and practices, and the
potential for developing their support to trans and non-binary staff and students. All
the recommendations in this report are underpinned by the principles of amplifying and
listening to trans and non-binary voices, and we suggest chaplains build an iterative
listening process into their work to ensure trans and non-binary people define what
support they would like and how it can be delivered effectively.

Inclusive Pride Cross

June 2021

To mark Pride Month, the rainbow flag has been updated to ensure inclusivity is at the heart of the LGBT+ movement.

The new design incorporates intersex people into the movement and was led by Valentino Vecchietti.

Inspired by the Gender Identity & Sexuality workshop at the People of Hope 2021 Conference, School Chaplain Fr Simon created an Inclusive Pride Cross
