Autumn term - welcome email

24th September 2019

Welcome to the first email of the new school year!

I trust it finds you well and beginning to get back into the swing and rhythm of school/college life.
It was good to meet many of you in person at the National Conference in June. It was a great way for me to start and I was hugely encouraged and excited by the quality of all that we shared as well as by the amazing stories of the fantastic work in which you are all engaged.

The good news is we are already beginning to work on plans for an even better conference in June 2021 (well, we can aim high!) dates and venue are just being confirmed now and you will be among the first to find out more.

This summer:

So, what exactly have I been doing?

It has been an exciting few months of meeting many of those involved in working with school and college chaplains nationally. I am thrilled by the commitment and vision I have heard about and delighted at the strength of desire for us all to work together in supporting Chaplains in Schools and Colleges around the country.  One of the key outcomes of these meetings will be a National Summit that we will be holding in London for the leaders of these organisations and denominations in November. More to come in the next email.

We have also been working on our website. You will see that we have altered our contact emails – well the original ones were a little long! @c4ce.co.uk is more manageable isn’t it? Don’t worry the old one is linked to the new one thanks to our great web design team!

There will be several new sections and resources emerging as we evolve in the coming weeks. If you can spare some time to do so please get involved:

Prayer:

We are launching a section of the website devoted to prayer.

Please send us any resources for prayer that you would recommend (we will review these);

any prayer requests – for example do you have a key event coming up you would like others to pray for?

any offers of writing some reflections/prayers etc. that could become a focus for prayer for a month or so would also be welcome.

Resources:

At present we have a few resources from the National Conference for you to look at/watch etc. All very thought provoking and stimulating and well worth looking at (even if you were at the conference.)

Do you have any great resources that others might find helpful? Anything you would recommend to others (books? websites? your own resource we could review for you?) Please let us know and get in touch. I have already had a few new chaplains asking for suggestions of resources so let’s share more.

Newman University:

A huge thank you if you have already completed the survey. This will help Newman University as we work together to consult Chaplains, school and college leaders and pupils/students as a strong foundation for qualifications for school/college- based Chaplains. Head to the website or follow this link  https://rdap1psi.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/ccenewman-school-chaplains😊

Vacancies:

One of the things we want to be able to do is to act as a conduit in letting people know of forthcoming vacancies too. Please feel free to let us know of chaplaincy vacancies and we will put them on our website. Please contact Paul for further information at info@c4ce.co.uk  or by telephone on 01243 812134.

Finally:

As we work towards engaging with School and College Chaplains and see regional hubs evolve do get in touch if you are already part of a regional ‘gathering’ and let’s talk about how we can work together to support and resource your ministry and that of others. I am already talking with people in London so please let me know if you are in the London area especially.

This term is always a season of new beginnings in schools and colleges. We are praying for you as you begin the year and pray that Isaiah’s words will be your experience as the Lord leads you in your ministry.

‘See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.’  Isaiah 43:19

All good wishes and our prayers for God’s blessings this term.
